Oliver Sunday Akanite, better known by his stage name Oliver De Coque (14 April 1947 – 20 June 2008), was a Nigerian guitarist and one of the continent’s busiest recording artists.

De Coque was born to an Igbo family in 1947 in Ezinifite, Anambra State, Nigeria. At the age of 11, he began performing, and a Congolese guitarist residing in Nigeria taught him how to play the guitar. De Coque was Sunny Agaga and Jacob Oluwale’s apprentice, and by the time he was a teenager, he had gained local notoriety.
