Marshall Bruce Mathers III, better known by his stage name Eminem, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor who was born on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri in the United States. He was regarded as one of the most divisive and successful artists of the early 21st century.

He started rapping in clubs in Detroit, Michigan, when he was 14 years old. After three years of unexcused absences from school, he dropped out in order to focus on becoming a successful hip-hop artist.
