Sharada is an Indian playback and classical vocalist also known by the names Kavita Krishnamurthy or Kavita Subramaniam.

Including Rajasthani, Bengali, Kannada, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Telugu, Odia, Marathi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Nepali, Assamese, Konkani, and other languages, she has recorded more than 50,000 songs.

She has won the Padmashri in 2005 and four Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Awards, which she won consecutively from 1995 to 1997.

[5] 2015 saw her get a Doctorate (Honoris Causa) from Bangalore’s Jain University for her contributions to Indian music.

She settled in Bengaluru after getting married to renowned violinist L. Subramaniam in 1999.
