Mohammed Rafi was an Indian playback singer and musician who lived from 24 December 1924 until 31 July 1980. He is regarded as one of the best and most significant vocalists to have come from the Indian subcontinent.

Rafi was renowned for his vocal variety and versatility; his songs included bhajans, classical music, qawwalis, ghazals, quick, upbeat numbers, patriotic songs, sad songs, and highly romantic ones.

When lip-syncing a song in a movie, he was renowned for being able to adapt his voice to the actor’s persona and style.
