Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., a reggae and dancehall musician from Ghana, was born on October 17, 1984. Formerly known as Bandana, he now goes by the stage name Shatta Wale.

“Dancehall King,” “My level,” and “We taking over” are some of his best-known singles.

He is also well-known for the song Already, which was on Major Lazer’s Black is King album and featured Beyoncé.

He won Artiste of the Year at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for his single “Dancehall King.” In the movies Never Say Never, The Trial of Shatta Wale, and Shattered Lives, Wale also acted. “Moko Hoo,” a Wale track from 2004, was a nominee for a Ghana Music Award.
