Snoop Dogg Biography
Snoop Dogg, real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr., also known as Snoop Doggy Dogg and Snoop Lion, is an American rapper and songwriter who was born in Long Beach, California, on October 20, 1971.
He rose to prominence in the 1990s gangsta rap scene and was considered by many to be the pinnacle of West Coast hip-hop culture.
Snoop Dogg drew inspiration for his distinctively croaky lyrics from his early run-ins with the law. He spent several years in and out of prison following high school before deciding to pursue a career in hip-hop professionally.
He eventually caught the notice of renowned producer-rapper Dr. Dre, who included him on both his seminal album The Chronic and his single “Deep Cover” (both 1992). Snoop rose to fame quickly thanks to his featured vocals on the popular singles “Dre Day” and “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang.”
Doggystyle, his personal debut album, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time in 1993.
