Tupac Shakur, full name Tupac Amaru Shakur, birth name Lesane Parish Crooks, stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was an American rapper and actor who rose to prominence in the 1990s gangsta rap scene.

He passed away on September 13, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lesane Crooks was named Tupac Amaru Shakur when he was a year old, after the Peruvian rebel Tpac Amaru II. He was born to Afeni Shakur (née Alice Faye Williams), a Black Panther Party member.
