Vanilla Ice Biography

Robert Matthew Van Winkle, better known as Vanilla Ice, was born on October 31, 1967 in South Dallas, Texas. His mother Camilla Beth raised him (Dickerson).

He has had numerous stepfathers since his father abandoned him when he was four years old. On his mother’s side, he is descended from German and English.

Robert struggled in school during his adolescence, receiving terrible grades and frequently skipping class. He left school when he was 18 and was in the tenth grade. Ice earned a living by washing automobiles in the late 1980s.

He studied the customs and dances of some of his friends before registering as a performer at a nearby nightclub. He was naturally talented at rapping and dancing, and it goes without saying that the crowd adored him. As a result of his white skin, he later acquired the moniker “Vanilla Ice.”
