Yvonne Chaka Chaka, a South African singer, composer, actor, businesswoman, humanitarian, and teacher, was born Yvonne Machaka on March 18, 1965. “Princess of Africa” (by whom?) Chaka Chaka, a stage name she adopted following a 1990 tour, has been at the vanguard of South African popular music for 35 years and is well-known in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Gabon.
